What should I do if I see a login error due to SSO credentials?
For Employees
If you are an employee, let your supervisor or your Department HR/Academic Personnel contact know you are having issues logging in with your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
Next Steps:
- Your Supervisor or HR Contact will validate that you have an active UCPath record and an Employee ID has been created. They will check your hire date, you cannot access the portal before your hire date
- Your Supervisor or Department DSA will verify you are using the proper username login credentials. If you do not know your password, you will be directed to reset it at https://password.ucsd.edu
- If the first two options do not correct the situation, ask your supervisor to submit a ticket to ITS https://support.ucsd.edu/ITS
For Supervisors or Department HR/Academic Personnel/DSA Contacts:
- Check if the employee is eligible to use the UCPath portal.

- For HR Contacts, use the Person Org Summary page in UCPath to verify that the employee has an active UCPath employee record and an Employee ID has been generated.
- Check that the employee hire date is not in the future, employees cannot access the portal before their hire date.
- Advise employees they must wait up to 24 hours after the ID has been generated to gain access to the UCPath online portal.
- Confirm the Active Directory (AD) credentials with the employee.

- Supervisor: Verify employee is using the correct username by going to the online portal and checking your direct reports. In the additional information section, the Business Email will be displayed. The username is the part before the @ sign.
- If the employee needs to reset their password, direct them to https://password.ucsd.edu
- If the problem persists, correct credentials are being used, it has been over 24 hours and the hire date is not in the future, submit a ticket to ITS at https://support.ucsd.edu/ITS

What should I do if I see missing and/or incorrect information on UCPath Online?
For Employees
If you are an employee, you will need to submit a ticket to the UCPath Center (UCPC) using the “Ask UCPath” button in the online portal.
For Supervisors or Department HR/Academic Personnel/DSA Contacts:
Direct the employee to submit a ticket to UCPC using the “Ask UCPath” option in the online portal.
Next Steps:
- UCPC will work directly with the employee to resolve the issue.
How do I access UCPath Online as a transactor?
When your job responsibilities include the role of HR and/or Funding Transactor in UCPath you must complete the required training and then request transactor access. Find more detailed information on the Roles and Access page; after completing training requirements follow the steps below to request access.
For Employees
- Go to the Training Page to find details about training requirements.
- Go to the Roles and Access page to understand how UCPath roles are determined.
- Questions about your eligibility for access and your UCPath transactor role should be directed to your Supervisor.
- After training requirements are completed, submit the UCPath Access Management Form.
- We recommend this be done by your supervisor.
Next Steps:
- The Form routes to your supervisor for approval if you complete it yourself.
- After Supervisor approval the form routes to the access team for provisioning. Please allow 3-5 days for access to be granted.
For Supervisors
- Go to the Training Page to find details about training requirements.
- Go to the Roles and Access page to understand how UCPath roles are determined.
- After employee completes training requirements, submit the UCPath Access Management Form (HR > Onboarding > UCPath Transactor Access Request Form)
- When the request routes to you, approve the request using one of the methods below:
- You will receive an approval pending notification email and can approve or reject within that notification
Next Steps:
- After you approve the request, the form routes to the access team for provisioning. Please allow 3-5 days for access to be granted
- If the data in the access form is incorrect or not populating as expected, please submit a case by going to support.ucsd.edu/esc
How do I update my information and preferences on UCPath Online?
For Employees
- Login to UCPath
- Go to the Employee Actions menu to view and update your personal information
- If you are unable to view or update your information…
- Submit a ticket to the UCPath Center (UCPC) by clicking the “Ask UCPath” button, or
- Request your department to submit a ticket on your behalf
- Be prepared to provide your name, Employee ID, and the details on the information you would like to update.
For Department HR/Academic Personnel/DSA Contacts
- Encourage the employee to access UCPath online and take advantage of self-service to update their information
- If the employee cannot access UCPath, refer to Login to UCPath.
- If you need further assistance, contact your Central Office or submit a case to CCP via Employee Center at https://support.ucsd.edu/esc. Include the Employee Name and Employee ID of the employee that you are inquiring about and provide screenshots or detailed description of the issue.

- If the employee is unable to update or view their Personal Information or W-4 Withholdings in UCPath online - Contact UCPC or submit a case on behalf of (SOBO)
How do I view my Employment Verification?
Current employees can generate an auto-populated employment summary via UCPath by following this menu navigation:
Employee Actions > Income and Taxes > Verification of Employment > Generate Summary Report.
