Improve Navigation (Fluid Interface)

Completed as of October 17, 2022

The purpose of this project is to improve the transactor experience by deploying an improved navigation user interface (UI) called Fluid, and begin to move UCPath to a more intuitive, modernized solution. We recommend that users clear their browser cache before logging into UCPath to see the Fluid changes.

Why are we implementing this project?

The purpose of this project is to improve the transactor experience by deploying an improved navigation user interface (UI) called Fluid Interface. This will begin to move UCPath to a more intuitive, modernized solution.

The Fluid Interface will:

  • Improve the overall user experience with an intuitive navigation design
  • Streamline navigation so transactors can find and enter information quicker and more efficiently
  • Consolidate related information in easy to use tiles
  • Serve as the starting point to take advantage of new UCPath functionality
  • Ensure UCPath is on a supported platform

What is the project timeline?

Fluid was officially kicked off on January 26, 2022. The projected timeline is February to October 15, 2022.

How will this impact me?

As an Employee As a Transactor
No impact. Employees will see the same interface in UCPath online

Transactors may be required to download new job aids and other training assets.

UCPath will change how bookmarks work in UCPath. To help with this transition, we recommend that users set up links using the Favorites function.

  • For employees: You can continue to bookmark Employee Actions pages.
  • For transactors: You can continue to bookmark Employee Actions pages. Bookmarks are going away for transactional pages. Move all your Bookmarks to Favorites before October 14, 2022.

Watch our How to Create Favorites for Bookmarks Micro Learning Video or read the How to Create Bookmarks for Favorites in UCPath KBA for step-by-step instructions on creating Favorites for your Bookmarks:

UCPath System Downtime

This implementation will require UCPath to be unavailable during the following dates and times:

  • Start Time End Time
    Saturday, October 15, 6:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 8:00 p.m.
  • Impact:
    • During the scheduled downtime, all employees, managers, transactors and the UCPath Center will not have access to UCPath.
    • Please plan accordingly and complete necessary UCPath activities prior to the outage. UCPath will send an update once the deployment is completed.

Are there any actions required by departments?

There will be no impact to employees or the employee self-service pages. This will only impact transactors.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am not seeing the Fluid changes. What do I do?

If you are not seeing the Fluid interface, log out of UCPath completely. Clear your browser cache before logging back in.

Were any pages deleted?

No pages were deleted. The Fluid update is an interface change. The functionality, along with your current security roles, will remain the same.

Where can I find my Favorites?

On the top right, select the Compass icon.

Select My Favorites. All pages that you have Favorited will be listed here.

How many pages will be displayed in the Recent Places view?

Recent Places will list the last 5 pages you visited.

My window timed out quickly. How do I avoid the session timeout?

The UCPath portal controls the timeout session of the PeopleSoft homepage.  Due to inactivity, PeopleSoft will timeout when the portal times out, even if you are actively working within the application. If you close the UCPath portal window and actively work in PeopleSoft, your session will remain active.

How Do I Avoid the Timeout?

  • Once you open PeopleSoft, close the UCPath portal window. This disconnects the relationship between the UCPath portal and PeopleSoft.
  • When a pop-up message appears on a Peoplesoft window stating “Your session is about to expire,” click the “OK” button to prevent PeopleSoft from timing out.

Session Timeout for UCPath Portal

  • 60 minutes of inactivity for the UCPath portal dashboard
  • 20 minutes of inactivity for all self-service pages

Can Global Search use keywords instead of the full title (ex. "workforce" vs. "workforce job summary")?

Yes, you can do a partial word search. The search results will return all pages that you have access to with your current security roles.

How do you transition between the transactor home page and the employee self-service home page?

The employee self-service page will remain on your initial tab. Fluid will open up on a new tab in your browser.

Will approver view be affected by these changes?

Approvers will see the same user interface changes as Initiators.

Some pages (ex. Review Absence Balance) won't let me add to Favorites. How do I work around this error?

For pages such as Review Absence Balance where adding to favorites won't work, users will need to navigate to the page through PeopleSoft to add to Favorites. Read more about this workaround in our How to Create Favorites for Bookmarks in UCPath KBA.

Will the left sidebar disappear while working on transactions?

The sidebar containing the pages within a specific module can be hidden or displayed as needed.
