Direct Entry (formerly Hire Pilot)
The goal of the Direct Entry project is to streamline the new hire process in the UCPath system.
Why are we implementing this project?
The goal of Direct Entry Phase 2 is to:
- Provide an enhanced process for locations to enter new hires for Employees, Contingent Workers, and Concurrent Hires directly into UCPath with an approval framework
- Utilize the new Oracle-provided functionality to improve the user experience
- Review and add validations required to minimize downstream impacts
- Determine any additional audit reporting needs
- Review Payroll lockdown timeline/changes
- Evaluate the schedule for transitioning template functionality to Direct Entry
What is the project timeline?
The Hire Pilot kicked off on February 22, 2024 with a targeted go-live date on November 2023.
- User Testing: September 2024 – November 2024
- Cutover/Implementation Readiness: November 4, 2024 – November 10, 2024
- Go-Live: November 25, 2024

How will this impact me?
The Direct Entry project will take a limited-release approach.
- Early adopters from Central Offices will be able to transact using the new Manage Human Resources tile before all transactors can transact within the tile.
- If you currently have access to the Smart HR Templates today, continue to use Smart HR Templates until the pilot phase is complete.
- Local leadership will determine the right opportunity to release the Hire Pilot functionality to all transactors.

What will occur in Phase 1 of Direct Entry?
The goal of Phase 1 of the Direct Entry project (Phase 1) is to:
- Reduce the lead time to hire employees in UCPath
- Streamline the new hire process, mitigate any data entry errors, and help locations complete the next steps in the hiring process in a timely manner
- Provide reporting to monitor and assess data accuracy
- Include Add Person and Add Contingent Worker functionality to the HR Tasks tile
Who will be impacted?

Currently, only New Hires and Contingent Workers are in scope for this project. Concurrent and Rehires will be delivered in the next phase of the project.
